Welcome to the Mineral Location Mapping Search. This is an experimental site that may not act as expected all of the time (due to tweaking and testing). There are currently 300,434 records in the database, it includes all of the United States and some other countries.
For those who have used Google Maps before (maps.google.com) this will be fairly familiar, otherwise here is a little tutorial.
There are 5 map modes (top right of the map), Map, Satellite Hybrid, Topo and Topo Hybrid. Map is a standard road map, Satellite is satellite imagery, Hybrid features roads and satellite, Topo is a topographic map from the USGS and Topo Hybrid features roads and topo. The controls for navigating the map are located in the top left hand corner, these controls include the Zoom function which will allow you to zoom in and out. You can also drag the map to move it or double-click a point or marker to center the map. Dialup or other low-bandwidth users may have problems or slow service.
Currently there is a 500 record limit returned.
Enter a Site Name and/or Mineral, and/or you can Select a State. Keep in mind that the search term used will return all entries with the term in them. For instance, beryl will also return beryillium. |
